Boat Safari and back to Loango

Survived another night in “Eden”. The morning was beautiful and we did see some monkeys on the early morning boat trip (did not skip this one). Not a good night’s sleep – Mark woke me up when he got up – and pretended to be going outside to use the facilities. When I reminded him about the elephants he ran around acting like one – which was funny I suppose.

Went for a forest walk – which was quite nice. Tracked some monkeys – first time off the “beaten path”. Very skittish (as they are hunted for their meat by humans). So cute the few glances I got. Came back to Loango Lodge and had a nice warm shower. Then off to a game drive – safari style (in a truck versus walking). Saw some buffalo. And the gorgeous beach – where elephants come to roam. Jessica said they come to “party” – ironically true as there is a tree root that gives them a high found on the beach. These elephants were in National Geographic recently – but not their partying :-)

I almost fell asleep listening to Akos’ lecture – which was embarrassing. But he does go on and on. Did not stay for the “identify the bird” section. Need to sleep – my nose continues to run.
