Survived another night in “Eden”. The morning was beautiful and we did see some monkeys on the early morning boat trip (did not skip this one). Not a good night’s sleep – Mark woke me up when he got up – and pretended to be going outside to use the facilities. When I reminded him about the elephants he ran around acting like one – which was funny I suppose.
Went for a forest walk – which was quite nice. Tracked some monkeys – first time off the “beaten path”. Very skittish (as they are hunted for their meat by humans). So cute the few glances I got. Came back to Loango Lodge and had a nice warm shower. Then off to a game drive – safari style (in a truck versus walking). Saw some buffalo. And the gorgeous beach – where elephants come to roam. Jessica said they come to “party” – ironically true as there is a tree root t
hat gives them a high found on the beach. These elephants were in National Geographic recently – but not their partying :-)I almost fell asleep listening to Akos’ lecture – which was embarrassing. But he does go on and on. Did not stay for the “identify the bird” section. Need to sleep – my nose continues to run.
