Got up at 6:30 AM (had a hard time sleeping). Went for a little walk and a swim -- tummy still a bit upset so not much breakfast. Trying to hold out on taking Cipro. Left the Rolas Island in relative nice weather -- got off in Sao Tome in a huge rain -- and our bus was not there. Eventually came -- and we made our way to the airport. Akos was very nervous as there was a big possibility Air Services would bump us again to get another 4,000 Euro out of him. We had to hold our ground with the locals (we were first in line) but eventually got checked in. Managed to get seats together (festival seating in Air Services Airlines :-)). Two (white) guys on the plane from Gabon got sent back (because they had no visas). There was only one seat -- so they made an announcement (in French) to see if someone wanted to sit on the jump seat. As Spyros was the only one who spoke French, he got the seat.
Made it to Libreville -- our bags as well but there was no much chance they would not. Half the stuff leaving than came in. Then things got "interesting" again. Got three taxis -- and made it through Libreville to the train station. Red lights are "optional". The train station is positively scary -- we are the only non-Africans here. Made our way to the restaurant away from the chaos. Our baggage got wrapped and it is getting checked -- don't expect to see it again. Have thrown a few things in my carry on and hopefully can get some things in Brazzaville (Congo) if need be. Akos is trying to get us checked in -- wonder if we will see him again ..... Amazing how far he has gotten us. If we make it unto the train we are "supposed" to get to Lope Park at 1:30 (then some more riding to the lodge). But ... this is Africa so I am sure we will be late. There is NO way I am going on the early morning game drive -- I am sleeping in. Have made it to the half way point -- not doing this again any time soon. But it is certainly an adventure!
